Council #12554
3600 Devine Street • Columbia, SC 29205

Who Are the Knights?
In 1882, the Knights of Columbus was formed as a fraternal benefit society to render financial aid to members and their families. From the moment of our founding, charity has been the first principle of the Knights. We are men of faith and men of action. We undertake these acts of charity because we see those in need through the eyes of faith. Moreover, in the Knights of Columbus, we approach these acts of charity together. Pope Benedict XVI calls this the "practice of love...as a community." In 2021, the Order is still true to its founding principles of charity, unity and fraternity.

If you’d like to be a part of an international organization of 1.8 million Catholic men whose principal work involves helping others in need, we'd like to meet you and invite you to join us. For more information, please see contact information at bottom of this page.

About Our Council
Knights of Columbus Council #12554 was chartered on September 23, 1999 with thirty-seven members. Charter Officers were: Samuel J. Kopack, Jr, Grand Knight; Johnny Nix, Deputy Grand Knight; and, Joseph Kopack, Financial Secretary. The Council was formed with the help of State Deputy Richard Koehler and was graciously accepted by Msgr. Charles H. Rowland, Pastor of St. Joseph.

Hallmark activities of the Council include preparing and serving the Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Basketball Freethrow and Soccer Challenge tournaments, Pancake Breakfasts, Operation Hope and the Annual Parish Blood Drive. Members of the Council serve the parish as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Lectors, Ushers and in many other capacities. The Council helps a Seminarian each year with letters, cards, prayers and financial support. The Council also works closely with other Parish Organizations in areas ranging from Disaster Preparedness to Respect for Life to Social Outreach and beyond.
